There’s a new addition to the Mew Studio! For months, Dino and I discussed and debated the decision to add this piece of equipment. Were we financially stable enough to make this commitment? Could we really handle this new responsibility? And most importantly, what we do with all the free time this baby would give us?
Though we belabored the decision making process as though we were planning to have a baby, it was really a no-brainer in the end. I bit the bullet and finally bought an industrial grade paper cutter. No more of the cheesy Fiskars craft-store quality cutter that wigged out when you put more than 3 sheets of cardstock under the blade. Nope–this bee-yotch can cut like 250 SHEETS!!! AT ONE TIME!!! It takes my breath away when I think of its sheer power. I stand in awe before its capabilities.
Fact is, my business has boomed this year. In the first quarter alone I’ve produced work for over 40 weddings already. And a tremendous portion of production time goes to cutting the paper. As I learn more about the actual running of a business (not just the fun, creative side of it!) I realized that these types of investments are necessary to make things function smoothly, and will actually allow for growth.
So, she ought to be arriving later this week and we will welcome her with open arms! (Don’t worry, we’ll keep our fingers away from the blade!)
