Going to a Weekend Wedding

Evening Attire Polyvore
Very often I wish to be a fly on the wall at my client’s weddings–after working so long together to bring the details  to life, it’s always fun to see the end result.

Recently I reconnected to an old friend from junior high–we hadn’t seen or heard from each other in at least 15 years, and a mutual friend got us back in touch when Heather was planning her wedding.  We’ve been working together for months to create the stationery suite for her backyard wedding taking place this Saturday.  (I’m keeping the paper goodies under wraps until after the event to maximize impact!)  So I was really touched when the family invited me to attend and of course I accepted!  Even Dino will be there–not as my date though.  He’ll be behind the scenes handling the sound system.

Though Heather and her fiancée Matt live in San Diego now, they’re coming out east to celebrate their wedding in her parent’s backyard under a tent.  Heather’s dad is a big gardener so it’s been a labor of love for him to get the grounds in shape.  I’ve gotten the impression that even though it’s a backyard affair, it’s going to be somewhat formal in nature, so I kept that in mind when picking out a dress.

I grabbed this super-flattering Maggy London dress on a whim at Macy’s last weekend–it was the one and only dress I tried on and it was perfect!  I loved the retro feel–I snagged some super cute vintage accessories for a steal at a local consignment shop–not pictured.  If I had more time (and a stronger lust for shopping) I might have looked a little longer for accessories like the ones pictured.  But I think what I have will work just fine.  Check out my (new) Polyvore profile–I have a feeling (considering my sense of style in clothes is limited to jeans and t-shirts most often) it will not get used very often, but it was fun to play around!

Look out next week for more of the wedding details and pics of the whole scene.
